AI education that actually makes sense

Get Ready for Your AI Learning Path

Before diving into generative AI, it helps to know what you're getting into. This isn't about prerequisites or test scores—it's about setting yourself up so the learning actually sticks.

Most people jump straight into courses without thinking about their setup, their schedule, or what they actually want from this. Then they hit week three and realize they're missing context or running out of time. We've seen it happen dozens of times.

So let's talk about what makes this work. Not the flashy stuff, but the practical bits that keep you moving forward when the initial excitement wears off.

What You'll Want to Have Sorted

These aren't hard requirements. But they'll make your life easier once things pick up.

Your Tech Setup

You don't need a supercomputer, but you do need something reliable. A laptop that can handle multiple browser tabs, a stable internet connection, and enough storage for project files. Cloud services work fine if your machine's tight on space.

Time and Space

Figure out when you actually have focus time. Early mornings? Late evenings? Block it out now before life fills those gaps. And find a spot where you can work without constant interruptions—even if it's just a corner of your kitchen table.

Basic Comfort With Code

You don't need to be a developer, but comfort with reading documentation helps. If you've ever tinkered with HTML or followed a Python tutorial, you're probably fine. We'll build on that foundation rather than starting from absolute zero.

Curiosity Over Certainty

AI moves fast. What's cutting-edge today might be old news in six months. Come ready to explore, experiment, and sometimes feel a bit lost. That's part of the process, and honestly, it never fully goes away in this field.

What Past Learners Wish They'd Known

A few people shared what helped them get through the program.

Portrait of Callum Bergstrom

I spent the first two weeks just getting my development environment configured properly. Wish I'd done that beforehand. Once the coursework started, I didn't have time to troubleshoot installation issues.

The material assumes you're comfortable experimenting. I came from a teaching background where there were always clear right answers. Learning to be okay with trial and error took me a while to adjust to.

Set up a dedicated project folder system from day one. I didn't, and by week five I had files scattered everywhere. Reorganizing everything mid-program wasn't fun, and I lost track of earlier experiments.
